Our distinctive campus features the Gallery, the Pottery studio and workshop, the ArtFarm gardens,  and the KidsArt programs, all in the heart of Borrego Springs’ core business district at Christmas Circle and Palm Canyon Drive. A community resource and gathering place, The BAI is an important catalyst for adult and children's education, participation, art appreciation.

Please join us for classesshows and other events, and as a member. If you are an artist, a resident, a visitor, a family, an art lover, or simply a curious explorer, we look forward to welcoming you!

What's New at BAI?

Celebrating the Summer Show opened on June 5thand has been following social distancing protocol and limiting the number of visitors in the gallery. Masks are required. Staff wipes down surfaces with disinfectant throughout the day.

In conjunction with the Summer Show, The Desert's Silent Soul, the infrared photography of Luciano Demasi is on display in our North Wing of the Gallery. Demasi's work has garnered numerous awards and will hang until October 25th.

New Monthly Auction of Art is up and Running

Starting  August 1, BAI is hosting a monthly silent auction of work from different artists and mediums. It's a great way to bid on your favorite artist or to acquire some unexpected artwork for your collection. This month we have a stunning oil painting from Cynthia Rosen, a professional palette knife landscape painter.  Cynthia was a participant and award winner in several BAI Plein Air Invitationals. To read more about the artist and her work, please visit

The silent auction is offered on Facebook, Instagram, and in-person in the gallery. Go to Borrego Art Institute on Facebook to bid.We will add Instagram and in-person bids to the post. Each auction will close at 12 noon on the last day of each month. You will be notified if you are the winner. If you are the winning bidder, you agree to pay BAI the full amount of your winning bid + applicable sales tax on your purchase as well as any applicable shipping charges. The artwork for this auction is donated by private owners and artists. All proceeds from the auction will benefit BAI.

Summer Gardening is in full swing with eggplant, squash, cucumbers and other warm weather crops.  Please stop by and say hello - everyone is welcome to take a stroll through the beautiful gardens, learn about what's growing, and eat some vegetables along the way.  In addition to 40 orchard trees, there is also an apiary with six bee hives and a NEW community compost station.  Come take a look at what's new at the ArtPark!

Make dinner exciting -  VEGETABLE BAGS are available along the Sunset Road side of the gallery on FRIDAYS from 8:00am until noon or sold out.  Bags are a mix of what is in season and are always topped off with a variety of herbs and peppers to spice things up.  Freshly dried herbs, Honey, Nopales, Basil, Fruit and other ArtPark products are also available.  Remember... Eat Healthy & Cook Creatively!

Looking to grow your own vegetables?  Consider a COMMUNITY GARDEN PLOT!  NEW for FAll 2020 we are adding Boutique garden plots.  These perfectly sized plots will allow you to create a beautiful growing space and connect with a great group of gardeners.

VOLUNTEERS are the driving force of the garden and are always welcome to help plant and harvest!  Please stop by between 9-12 on weekdays and plan to stay anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours. There is always lots to do and great company!

Stop by the garden or email Wade to reserve your garden plot and start volunteering -

The PLANTS look forward to seeing YOU!

You Did It! Matching funds for the $5,000 grant from Dennis and Sharon Nourse have been met and then some. All funding will go to equipping the new pottery studio. Current pottery wheels will be repaired, new ones purchases, rolling racks and other essential equipment and needs now can be purchased. Thank you to everyone who donated...we wouldn't be able to have this remarkable facility without you.

    The Pottery Mural Project

Funded by a matching $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pottery  enlisted community involvement in creating a mural on the outside South wall of the Borrego Art Institute building. The mural celebrates the arts in Borrego Springs. To read the story of the mural, click on The Pottery.
